

Betty Jo Bray, 92, lived in Fredericksburg, VA. She passed away on October 28, 2017 of natural causes. Betty was born in Putnam, TX on January 26, 1925 to the late Charles and Bula Bray. Betty graduated from the Putnam high school and went on to get her nursing degree from Abilene Christian University in 1947. In her younger years she and her sisters helped her parents at the café they owned in Abilene, Texas. She was a dedicated nurse who spent her life taking care of people and was known for her compassion and loving care. She spent over 20 years taking care of her sisters, Melba Rachael and Joyce Keene, as well as her brother-in-law’s Earl Rachel and Ralph Keene. She never did retire from nursing and spent over 60 years nursing and taking care of people in some capacity. Betty was a member of the Church of Christ and was a giving and devoted church member for most of her life. She was a life-long resident of Azle, Texas until she moved to Virginia the last few years of her life. Betty was a tried and true Dallas Cowboy fan and enjoyed watching football for the past 52 years. She also loved listening to acapella Christian music and to God’s word on TV. She was bedridden for her last two years and sought great comfort in the word of the Lord. Betty is survived by her nephew, Steve Keene (aka Baby Boy) and her niece, Sylvia. She is also survived by grand-nieces and their husbands, and a host of great grand-nieces and nephews.
