

Bob was born on April 12, 1930 n Fort Worth, Texas. He was the son of Mak and Irene Tanner.
Bob was raised with two sisters, Martha and Nancy. Bob was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his sisters. He and his sisters shared many life experiences over the years.
In 1957 Bob exchanged wedding vows with Jackie Tanner. They were married 56 years before her death in 2013.
Bob's greatest accomplishment was as husband, father, grandpa and friend to many. Bob was blessed with three sons, Greg, Scotty, and Neil. Another blessing for Bob was the gift of four grandchildren, Kyle, Garrett, Morgan and Brooke.
Bob was an Air Force Veteran. Lt . Col. Bobby Jack Tanner was a retired USAF pilot serving from 1952-1974. He flew B49 and B52 during Cold War, in the ‘50s and early ‘60s, plus a handful of other aircraft. In 1967 he was trained in the F100 Saber Jet for combat in Vietnam (1967-1968) where he flew 255 missions. He received several awards recognizing him for his service, Bob received 19 decorations, including two Distinguished Flying Crosses, one Bronze Star Medal, 14 Air Medals and two Vietnamese Gallantry Crosses (one Silver Star, one Bronze Palm). His fellow soldiers viewed him as a brother in arms and knew that he was as much a part of their family as their loved ones back home.
Bob Tanner of Colleyville went home to the Lord at 11 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2017, due to complications of Alzheimer's and a brief illness. He is survived by sons, Greg and wife, Beth, of Stephenville, Neil of Hurst; grandkids, Kyle and wife, Macy Belton of Braden, Garrett of Stephenville, Morgan and Brooke of Hurst; sisters, Martha Kincade and husband, Don, of Rendon and Nancy Proper of Arlington; nieces and nephews, JoNell and Marty Bruenig, Jerry and Linda Toomer, Susie and Larry Carter; plus many great-nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, Texas. Bob was laid to rest in the Garden of Meditation next to his beloved wife, Jackie, in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas.
Bob was an individual who will be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Bob leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Bob Tanner.
