Mr. Brent Lee Phinney

Brent Phinney of Southlake Texas, passed away on February 16, 2022 in Grapevine, Texas. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all that knew and loved him. He was born on December 21, 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Elmer Phinney and Jean Barras.

Brent grew up in Aldan, Pennsylvania and attended a Bible church where he became a Christian and was baptized. After high school he attended Letourneau College in Longview, Texas. The Lord called him into the ministry while he was on a quartet tour one summer promoting the college. While attending Letourneau, he met the love of his life, Georgia Shoaf. They were married August 23, 1968. After graduation from college he attended Dallas Theological Seminary where he graduated in 1973. Following graduation, he served as Associate Pastor of Haltom Road Baptist Church. He then served as Minister of Youth at First Baptist Church, El Paso. In 1979, he was lead to pastor First Baptist Church, Willow Park where he served for 21 years. After being diagnosed with MS, the Lord lead him into a new ministry as a Hospice chaplain until he retired.

Brent is survived by his wife of 53 years, Georgia Phinney, son Jason Phinney and his wife Heather of Colleyville, Texas, daughter Jill Smith and her husband Steven of Southlake, Texas and four grandsons, Austin Phinney and his wife Ever of Ft. Worth, Texas, Will Phinney of Colleyville, Texas, Blake Smith and Blaine Smith of Southlake, Texas, and one sister Barbara Day and her husband Warren of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Friday February 25th, 2022 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, Texas. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 26th, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Hurst, Texas. Interment will follow at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
