

Born in Wooster, Ohio, she was a graduate of Wooster High School Class of 1956 where she was involved in many organizations. Carol was in the Leaders Club, “W” Girls member, Honor Thespian, and the Outstanding Senior Athlete and All Star in the Girls Athletic Association.
Carol Heise graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1961 where she attained her Bachelor of Science in Education and Teaching Certification. A lifelong member (60 years pin) of Alpha Chi Omega (Beta Phi) and loved her experience of sisterhood, service and leadership.
Carol met her husband Duncan A. Gillies during Freshman orientation at BGSU, and she was the sweetheart of Sigma Chi. They married in July 1961 and Carol began teaching (K-12) and husband Duncan began his career in economics and transportation business.
During their 39 devoted years together - the family moved many times. From Ohio to New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Virginia, Illinois, Florida and Texas. Carol loved her canine companions and enjoyed gardening, traveling and was a brilliant card player from Bridge to Canasta to Mah Jong. Her friendships, fellowship, sisterhood and service brought her the greatest joys.
Carol was so proud of her daughter Allison, as a loving and compassionate caregiver and wishes her to continue with faith, strength of purpose and to keep finding joy in life!
Carol was preceded in death by her Daughter Maribeth Lynne Gillies and her husband Duncan Alistair Gillies, and her parents Paul and Ruth Heise.
Surviving is her Daughter Allison Gillies of Grapevine, Texas and Daughter-in-law Cathleen Cudzilo Gillies and Granddaughter Mary Elizabeth (Maribeth II) of Denver, Colorado.
Carol and her beautiful daughter Maribeth’s ashes will be interred together in Wooster, Ohio.
Service will take place at 11:30am on Saturday June 14, 2025 - at Wooster United Methodist Church in Wooster, Ohio.
