

Carrol Glen Mathews was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Carrol will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
He was the son of Archie and Carmella Mathews.
Carrol was raised with three brothers, Monte, Dean, and Noel. Carrol was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his brothers. He and his brothers shared many life experiences over the years.
A typical teenager, Carrol had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He graduated from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth in 1947.
Carrol attended Texas Christian University.
Empathic and loyal, Carrol was committed to making his new family happy.
Carrol worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Carrol was blessed with three sons, Steve, Kent, and Thomas. Another blessing for Carrol was the gift of six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Erin, Courtney, Meredith, Blair, Leigh, Alyssa, Olivia, Penny, Dominik, Jude, Avery, Mateo, and Noe.
Fortunately, Carrol enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Carrol worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. He worked for 15 years for the Fort Worth and Denver Railroad. Later, Carrol was the Executive Vice President for the Fort Worth Grain Exchange for 53 years.
Carrol enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. He loved fishing, travel, western heritage and hot sauce. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Carrol passed away on August 13, 2016 in Fort Worth, Texas. Carrol is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jenna Mathews; three sons, Steve and his wife Carol, Kent and his wife Susie, Thomas and his wife Kat; grandchildren, Erin Crowe and husband Loren, Courtney Mathews, Meredith Blair and husband Jordan, Blair Mathews, Leigh Rodriguez and husband Raul, and Alyssa Mathews; great grandchildren, Olivia, Penny, and Dominik Crowe, Jude Blair, Avery Mathews, Mateo and Noe Rodriguez and his brother Noel Mathews. Services were held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Colleyville, Texas. Carrol was laid to rest in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas.
Carrol was an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Carrol leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Carrol Glen Mathews.

Carrol Glen Mathews, age 86, of North Richland Hills, Texas passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016. Carrol was born in Sweetwater, Texas on March 9, 1930 to Archie and Carmella Mathews.
