

Cecil J. Erickson Jr., 90, departed from this life on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014. Friends are cordially invited to gather at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Cecil will be laid to rest in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Cecil was born on Sept. 19, 1924, in Houston to Cecil Sr. and Ruth Erickson. He joined the Navy during World War II and served on a destroyer escort as part of a group that escorted supply ships to various ports in England, North Africa and Italy, and across the North Atlantic. After the war ended, he took a job with Mohawk Carpets and was later promoted to warehouse manager. Then he was promoted to warehouse manager in Dallas, Chicago and later a national warehouse manager in New York. He held this position until the company decided it was going to service their customers direct from the factory in South Carolina, at which time he was offered an early retirement package. Cecil moved back to Texas and took a job with floor covering distributor as a claims manager. Later he decided to take his early retirement from Mohawk. He accepted a position with a nearby insurance center in the supply department where he worked another nine years before retiring for good. Cecil was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Dorothy Erickson; son, Russell Erickson; and brother, John Erickson. Survivors: Daughter, Karen Erickson of Bedford.
