Cora was born February 19, 1929 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Marguerite and James Selkirk. The family later moved to Big Spring, Texas where Cora and her sister Patricia spent many happy years.
Mom loved reading, crossword puzzles, Frank Sinatra and her glass of red wine, but her greatest joy and fulfillment in life was her marriage and her children. She met her husband to be, Cal Koether, on a fateful blind date while both were living in Big Spring. They married and raised four children, Philip, Deborah, Patricia and Mark. She was the ultimate mother and there was never a moment in which her kids did not feel loved and cherished. She and dad were married for 66 years, until his death in 2017, and it was a union for the ages. They loved traveling and did so tirelessly, camping by tent, and later in their RV. They visited innumerable parks across the country, first with the children, and continuing on their own into their 80’s. They were rarely apart, virtually never a cross word, and it was obvious to anyone around them that they were the love of each other’s lives. This great affection never ceased and without doubt continues now.
Cora is survived by her son Philip Koether and his wife Debra, her daughter Deborah Koether Frost and her husband Brint Frost, daughter Patricia Koether and son Mark Koether and his wife Cynthia. She has three grandsons, Michael, Cole and Lucas Hopper along with three grandchildren who she joyfully joins in heaven, Juan, Stephanie and Jennifer Salgado. She has four great-grandchildren, Robert and Jacob Salgado and Brianna and Jackson Hopper (and one on the way!), and one great-great grandbaby, Eliana Salgado.
Codie will be missed beyond words by all who knew and loved her. She was a woman of great and unwavering faith and was a true inspiration for how to live one’s life. Her legacy of love and caring will live on in all of our hearts.
