Mr. D. Kirk Braungardt

Kirk grew up in Rock, KS helping on the family farm. He attended Udall High School playing basketball and wrestling and graduating in 1968. He received his Associates of Art degree from Cowley County Community College in 1992 and his Bachelor of Science from Kansas Newman College in 1993. Throughout the years, Kirk worked as a pipeline welder, plant operator and pipeline inspector.

He had a passion for bow hunting and turkey hunting passed down from his uncle Leroy and achieved the Grand Slam in 2010. He also enjoyed hunting instruction, camping and fishing. Kirk was known for his compassion, sharp wit and sense of humor and his infectious smile.

He was preceded in death by his parents JC & Frances Braungardt and brother Scott Braungardt.

He is survived by his daughter Kara Dee “Deedee” (Tory) Pietzsch of Colleyville, TX; his longtime partner Janie Thornton of Bartlesville, OK, her son Tyler Prunty (Heather) children, Maddi, Raegan, Rian and Baker, and son Justin Prunty (Tres) children, Parker and Pierson; brother J.L. “Toot” Braungardt of Rock, KS and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 8 at 3:30pm at The Elks Lodge 1060 Swan Dr, Bartlesville, OK 74006.
