Mr. David "Dave" Edward West

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and “Peepaw” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dave was born in Sparkman, AR on September 30, 1933 to Mitchell and Leatrice West.

Following high school, Dave enlisted in the U.S. Army and bravely served his country during the Korean War. After the war, Dave was stationed in Kansas at Fort Riley and met the love of his life, Mary Ellen O’Connell. They were married on May 4, 1956 and together shared many wonderful memories with their five sons. Upon completion of his term of service with the U.S. Army, Dave began his career with Wonder Bread – Hostess Cake. During the late 1960’s, the family relocated to North Richland Hills.

His time was dedicated to coaching, attending and cheering on his sons in their various activities. Once he became a grandfather, Peepaw enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren outdoors and sharing with them his love of fishing. After his retirement, Dave enjoyed spending his afternoons with friends at Lone Star Park watching the horses race. Peepaw never beat around the bush and never left anyone to wonder what he was thinking. He will be dearly missed.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Sammy West.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary, and five children, David West (Nancy), Doug West (Diane), Mark West (Tammy), Patrick West (Jennifer) and John West (Brooke), grandchildren, Kelly West (Cara), Whitney Reed (Doug), Courtney Ross (Ryan), Claire Walsh (Mitch), Mike West, Chandler Williamson (Matt), Caroline West, Matt West, Max Palko, Luke West, Cricket West, Thomas West and Andrew West, 6 great grandchildren, his brothers Donald West (Patti), Larry West (Marsha), and his sister, Helen Chism.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Joy, Mary, Hebbie and Ellie, his wonderful caregivers at Jackson’s Place and the compassionate nurses from Knights of Comfort Hospice.

Visitation will be held from 4:30-6:30pm, Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Foust and Son Funeral Home, 523 S. Main St., Grapevine, TX 76051. Rosary will begin at 5:30pm during the visitation. Dave’s funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 19th at St. John The Apostle Catholic Church, 7341 Glenview Dr., North Richland Hills, TX 76180. Burial will follow at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, TX 76034
