Delvin “Dean” Radke, 88, of North Richland Hills, went to his heavenly home on September 25, 2023, surrounded by family. Dean was born in Bynum, Texas, on July 18, 1935, to Herbert Alexander Radke and Wilhelmina “Minnie” Emma Hugo Radke. Dean graduated from Trimble Tech High School in 1953 and served in the 49th Armored Division of the Army National Guard. However, he would be quick to tell you that life truly didn’t begin until he met the love of his life, LouAnn at church in 1957. The couple wed on May 16, 1958, and shared more than 65 years of their lives together.
Dean was an avid southern gospel quartet music enthusiast and sang for many years in quartets and the church choir. Summer and weekend trips took Dean and LouAnn to concerts across several states. He never met a Ford truck he didn’t like and was known to have the unique ability to find a great deal on a car no matter the make or model. Sundays after church were meant for football and he could watch all the games all at once, throwing in a NASCAR race where possible.
Dean worked at Bell Helicopter for 38 years in bonding/fabrication and was a member of the UAW Local 218. After retiring in February of 1998, he enjoyed playing dominoes with some of his fellow retirees a few days a week, which lasted until the pandemic shut the practice down.
He is survived by his wife Louann and children Jerry Radke, Darrin (wife Angie) Radke and Lori Radke, and grandchildren Wyatt Radke and Samantha Radke, and granddogs Beau, Jake and Anna Radke.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am CT on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Cross Church, 6955 26 Boulevard, North Richland Hills, TX 76180, with interment immediately following at Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 6:00-8:00pm CT at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home at 5725 Colleyville Boulevard, Colleyville, TX 76034.
