Mrs. Donna Buchanan Lucas

Born in Wiggins, Mississippi, Donna was the middle of three daughters. She grew up in Perkinston and Clinton, Mississippi. She graduated valedictorian of Clinton High School. She received a full Presidential scholarship to the Honors College at the University of Southern Mississippi and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.

Donna then moved to Texas to work for Texas Instruments as a computer programmer. Her career took her to American Airlines, Sabre, Electronic Data Systems, Hewlett-Packard and finally DXC Technology as an Oracle database administrator.

Donna was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was very active at Harwood Terrace Baptist Church, Bedford, serving as church treasurer, teacher of English as a Second Language classes, and singer on the praise team. She also mentored students through Trinity High School’s Trojan Talk program. Some of her greatest joys were catching up with her dearest friends, attending her Christian Fiction Book Club, high school football games, and shopping with her daughter. Donna always looked forward to Friday date nights with her husband, John. She had a knack for identifying fellow Mississippians, and everyone who met her was blessed to experience her warmth.

Donna is preceded in death by her sister Kay Burlison (Gordon) of Colorado Springs, CO and niece Karleigh Harfst of Starkville, MS.

Donna is survived by her husband John of Bedford, TX; daughter Lauren Lindigrin Fay (Brendan) of Durham, NC; stepson Matthew Lucas (Robin) of Denton, TX; stepdaughter Megan Lucas Arredondo (Chad) of Fairfax , VA; parents, Gerald and Dottie Buchanan of Clinton, MS; sister Cynthia Harfst (Jim) of Starkville, MS; sister-in law Margaret Harvey (Scott) of Hurst, TX; niece Amanda Harfst and nephew Ryan Harfst of Starkville; niece Kathryn Harvey of Hurst, TX; grandchildren Liam and Sutton Lucas of Denton, TX and Lincoln and Kennedy Arredondo of Fairfax, VA; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harwood Terrace Baptist Church, Bedford, TX.

A celebration of Donna’s life will be held in Bedford, TX and Clinton, MS at a later date.
