Dorothy was born in rural Haworth (Redland), OK, on October 17th, 1932. She was the youngest of twelve children to James Jim and Essie Eva (Presley) Jennings. She graduated from Idabel High School in 1950. Dorothy married the love of her life, Arlin Richard Blocker, on August 21st, 1950 in De Queen, AR. She worked as a Supervisor at Reliance Telecommunications for more than 20 years. After retirement, she and Arlin were involved in their motorhome club and traveled many places all over the U.S., Canada, and even Europe.
Dorothy always had a ready smile and a warm hug. She led an active lifestyle and enjoyed walking, swimming and water skiing. She loved to garden, read, sing, and sew, making many quilts and crafts over the years. One of her favorite events was the annual Jennings family reunion in Beaver’s Bend, OK. Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved nothing more than holding and playing with her seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Arlin Blocker, her parents, her five brothers, and six sisters.
Dorothy is survived by her three daughters and their spouses, Vivian Arlene and Charles C. Martin, Jr. of Rhome, TX, Sherry Ann and Paul D. Copenhaver, Jr. of Roanoke, TX, and Susan Annette and Jody Austin of Aubrey, TX; her sisters-in-law, Faye June Daily of Fort Worth, TX and Betty Jennings of Tulsa, OK; her grandchildren and their spouses, Charles Casey, Sr. and Tina Martin, Joy and Edward F. Dorothy’s family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to her niece, Vicki Slaughter, for her loving care over the last seven years. Whether Dorothy was called Mom, Granny, or Aunt Dorothy she was a special lady who was loved and will be missed by all.
