Dorothy Lorene Erickson

Dorothy L. Erickson, of Hurst, Texas, where she lived until 2025, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025. Dorothy was born in Cali, Colombia, S. A. on August 20th, 1935. She graduated from Denton High School in 1954 and attended Texas Women’s University in Denton, TX. She married John Meritt January 9th, 1957, with John she had two children, John and Debra. Dorothy remarried on May 20th, 1990 to Art Erickson and was married to him until his passing in 2014.

Dorothy had a career working in merchandising at the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in Dallas, TX. She was a lifelong member of Ft Worth First Seventh Day Adventist Church. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, floral arrangements, scrap booking, travel and doting on her family of which she was so proud.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Meritt Carter and her husband, Chuck; her son, John Meritt and his spouse, Loretta; Her granddaughters, Lauren Carter Lora (Anthony) and Jennifer Meritt Flynn (Marty); great grandchildren Lenny Lora, Luca Lora, Avery Flynn, and Hudson Flynn; sisters Elaine Stewart and Lillian Green; brothers Paul Rippe and Dan Rippe; and she will also be remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
