Douglas Lloyd Plummer was born to Tommie S. and Erma Jean Plummer at Boone County Hospital in Columbia, Missouri on July 10, 1957. His toddler years were spent with his family working throughout the upper Midwest. He began grade school in Hickman Mills, Missouri, and entered third grade at Snow Heights Elementary in North Richland Hills, Texas. Douglas also earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He finished Richland High School and attended UTA while working. He was always passionate about playing the piano. Douglas developed that passion and piano repair skills by attending and teaching Piano Technician classes and working for music stores, playing in garage bands as well as the Shriner’s, and running his own business, Piano Aficionado, where he completely restored, repaired and tuned pianos for individuals, churches, schools, and businesses.
He was a member of Richland Hills Christian Church until he fell in love with his loving wife Gloria Salinas. At that time he became a Catholic and worked very hard applying his talents to his faith and supporting Gloria and children.
Tragically Douglas was diagnosed with lymphoma soon after he fell in love with Gloria and offered to release her from her commitment but she firmly declined. His long undiagnosed cancer in recent years began a decline in health while he continued to work and participate in family activities. This cancer was unsuccessfully treated and while under intensive medical care, he went to be with the Lord on February 8. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Douglas is survived by his beloved wife Gloria and children Carlos, Monica (Sergio), and Cristobal (Libby), grandchildren Sophia, Carlos and Camilo; his parents Tommie and Jean, sisters Donna (Mike) and Diane (Chuck), nephew Thomas and niece Katherine (Michael) and great nephews Grant and Cavan.
Family visitation will be at 10 am with a memorial service to follow at 11 am at Richland Hills Christian Church, 3908 Ruth Road. Burial will be at 12:30 pm at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, Garden of Wisdom, 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Colleyville, TX 76034.
