Edward Allen Grondahl passed away on June 4, 2025. He was a devoted husband, proud father, adoring grandfather and great-grandfather, and a cherished friend to many.
Ed was the beloved husband of Jan Grondahl and father to five children: Joanne Grondahl (Scott), Eddy Grondahl, Tami Walsh (Rick), Todd Saville, and Kris Rogers (Craig).
A loving grandfather, Ed brought warmth and wisdom into the lives of his grandchildren: Erika Greeney, Jeffrey Kobus, the late Kyler Kobus, Ava, Holly, and Kolten Grondahl, Trey and Ty Walsh, Cameron and Cory Rogers. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Addison Dao, Joelle and Layla Greeney, and Zayvien Stone. His family was the center of his life, and his love for them was unwavering and undeniable.
Born on March 12, 1946, in Duluth, Minnesota, Ed was the son of Vivian and Erick Grondahl. He graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1964 and soon began a career in sales and leadership. He spent over 30 years with NCR, where he became a respected industry leader. His career journey continued as Executive Vice President of ATI and later as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Tidel, where he led teams with his integrity, vision, and passion.
Ed gave generously of his time and heart as a friend, father, grandfather and husband. Quick with humor, seasoned with a story, and patient with an interested ear, Ed inspired, comforted and energized those in his presence.
He had an appreciation for life's simple pleasures - traveling with family and friends, playing golf and pool, and enjoying conversations and laughs. He was known for his steady presence, sharp wit, and the deep care he showed to everyone lucky enough to know him.
His legacy is one of love, leadership, and loyalty—a life lived with purpose and heart. Ed will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever honored.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital in Edward's memory.
