Elizabeth Jean Kopitzke

Betty was born on February 13, 1935 in Lima, Ohio. Early on, Betty worked at St. Rita’s Hospital and Ricker Insurance Company, but when the opportunity arose, she moved to Chicago and started a job with American Airlines. While employed at American Airlines, Betty met her future husband, Robert Kopitzke. The two of them moved to Texas and worked at the Flight Academy.

In 1971, Betty and Bob welcomed their daughter, Beth. Betty became a stay-at-home mom until Beth entered Junior High School. Always one to stay busy, Betty became the receptionist at Saint John the Apostle Catholic Church and later accepted a job at the Tribunal Office of the Diocese of Fort Worth. In 2000, Betty retired after 20 years with the Diocese.

Betty was a faithful member of Saint John the Apostle Catholic Church and a devoted Catholic. She was very family oriented, kind, fun-loving and enjoyed life. Betty was an artist and a seamstress. She loved her beer, playing cards and games, traveling and working in her garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Mary Christen, her husband, Bob, her sisters, Mary Beasolie and Hazel Harden, and her brother, Richard Christen. Her family and friends will deeply miss Betty.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 13th, 2:00 PM at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 7341 Glenview Drive, North Richland Hills. Reception to follow. Betty will be laid to rest on Wednesday, May 15th, 2:15 PM at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211. If you plan on joining the committal service please arrive no later than 2:00 PM.
