

Gary Wayne Thatcher Sr. was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Gary will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
He was the son of John and Lillian Thatcher.
Gary was raised with four sisters, Barbara, Sue, Adelma, and Peggy and four brothers, John, Mike, Donald, and Larry. Gary was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
Empathic and loyal, Gary was committed to making his new family happy.
Gary worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Gary was blessed with two sons, Gary and Kevin and one daughter, Dawn. Another blessing for Gary was the gift of seven grandchildren, Katie, blake, Gage, Dyllon, Nick, Xander, and Trent.
Gary passed away on June 11, 2016 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Grapevine, Texas. He is survived by He is preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Mary Thatcher; his parents, John and Lillian Thatcher; sister, Barbara Luckenbill and her husband Jerry and his brother-in-law, Howard Porter. He is survived by his children, Gary Thatcher, Jr. and his wife Beyonka, Dawn Falls and her husband Mike, and Kevin Thatcher and his wife Denise; grandchildren, Katie Thatcher, Blake Thatcher, Gage Daulton, Dyllon Daulton, Nick Falls, Xander Thatcher, and Trent Thatcher; siblings, John Thatcher and his wife Linda, Sue Brown and her husband Bob, Adelma Porter, Mike Thatcher and his wife Sandy, Donald Thatcher and his wife Rose, Peggy Shoch and her husband Eldon, and Larry Thatcher and his wife Brenda, and numerous nephews, nieces and close family friends who were treated like family. Services were held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Colleyville, Texas. Gary was laid to rest in the Court of Fidelity in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas.
. Gary was a caring and generous man with unlimited hospitality. He acted grumpy but always had the biggest heart for others and would go out of his way to help those in need. When they were young, Gary coached his children’s sports teams. He also attended all of his grandchildren’s basketball games and any extracurricular activities they were involved in. He was a big fan of baseball and basketball, and loved fishing. He loved his children and grandchildren and will be missed by all. Gary leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Gary Wayne Thatcher Sr.
