Gerald "Jerry" Monroe Wilkes Sr. was born on September 16, 1946 in Dallas, Texas to Robert Shumard and Ailene Elizabeth Wilkes. He attended Woodrow Wilson High School and then was drafted into the Army where he served in the Vietnam War. He went on to work with his brother Robert at Wilkes Painting Service. He and his brother have spent their lives in the DFW area. He was a simple man with a BIG heart who would help anyone in need that crossed his path. His smile alone could lift anyone’s spirits. He loved bowling, baseball, his family and friends, and his dogs. As a bowler he even bowled a “perfect game”. He is survived by his brother Robert, sister-in-law, Kathe Wilkes; three sons, J.J. Wilkes, Tyler Wilkes, and Chase Wilkes; daughter-in-law, Annette Wilkes, and his three grandchildren, Jordyn Wilkes, Jake Wilkes, and Jack Wilkes. Gerald Monroe Wilkes Sr. passed away on November 17, 2014. His amazing smile and his sweet kind spirit will be deeply missed. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 21, at 9AM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at DFW National Cemetery at 11AM following his service
