Affectionately known as Ed, he leaves behind his sister Merla Grube Dwyer, his children Henry Edward Grube III and his wife Joye Grube, Gina Smith and her husband Marc Smith, Chris Wood, Diona Irish and her husband Michael Irish. He also leaves behind his grandkids Kayley, Cameron, Isabella, Ryan, Zachary, and Landon, all of whom he adored very much. He leaves behind his nieces: Shirley Dwyer, Julie Dwyer Williams, Kelly Dwyer Armstrong and cousins: Bob (Dana) Grube, David Grube, Susan Spence Healan, (Jim), Linda Grube Grizzle, Carolyn Grube and Beth Spence.
Ed attended Murphy High School and Greystone Christian School. He went on to study at Bob Jones University. Ed enjoyed working for Thanksgiving Square in Dallas from 1985 to 2013. He was the facilities manager/engineer and dedicated himself to making sure it was fully operational for others to enjoy. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed working on cars with his son, fixing things that needed repair, including helping his kids at their houses. He was never too busy to run and help with anything his kids, grandkids, and friends needed. He would spend countless hours cleaning the pool, knowing the kids and grandkids would be coming over to swim on the weekends (and sometimes friends too)!
Ed was a volunteer Firefighter in Red Hook, NY in his younger days and also enjoyed being a part of the Carrollton Citizens Police Patrol in Carrollton, TX when he retired from his full-time job. His love for serving others always came first. In his final years, he lived in North Richland Hills at The Wellington Independent Living Apartments. When he wasn’t watching football and cheering on his favorite teams (Roll Tide and Go Cowboys), you could find him at his daughter and son in law’s restaurant enjoying some yummy BBQ.
Ed will be deeply missed by those who loved him, and his memory will be kept alive with all of his famous Ed-isms.
Services will be taking place Friday 9/22, with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. and the funeral at 3pm. Both services will be held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Colleyville, TX 76034
