Herbert Sullivan, affectionately known as Kip and or Herbie, passed away on August 16, 2025, at the age of 66. Kip was a beloved father, friend, and family-man whose kind nature, sense of humor, and passion for sports left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Born on September 16, 1958, Kip grew up in Milton, Massachusetts, and spent his early family life in the South Shore area. He also lived in Florida and Chicago at times before moving to Southlake, Texas, where he found great joy cheering on his son Nate and the cross country team. In his later years, Kip moved to Naples, Florida, where he spent many peaceful evenings watching the sunset on the beach. His heart, however, belonged to Hilton Head, South Carolina — his favorite place — where he vacationed often with family and friends, enjoying the beach, golf, and bike rides.
Kip was a lifelong fan of all things sports with an deep knowledge of unique facts and statistics. His heart belonged to Boston — he was overjoyed when the Red Sox broke their 86-year drought and won the World Series in 2004, a moment celebrated with vigor. A devoted Patriots fan, Kip traveled to countless cities to attend games with family and friends, always cheering with unmatched enthusiasm, even in times before and after Brady. He adored the Celtics and idolized Larry Bird.
Kip was a proud alumnus of Boston College. He spent years taking his family to BC games, creating cherished memories. Golf was another love of Kip’s — he not only played regularly but followed the professional tour closely, attending the Masters multiple times and countless PGA Tour rounds. Perhaps one of Kip’s most legendary contributions to the sports community was growing a March Madness tournament pool from 13 to 1,300 people. Kip famously never won the pool since its inaugural year, yet he found immense joy in bringing everyone together.
Although Kip’s sports loyalty was regionally bound, his love for sports was endless. From professional soccer to girls’ lacrosse, tennis to college athletics, he watched it all. His passion was pure, his knowledge vast, and his excitement contagious.
Kip was known for having a great time and enjoying life to the fullest — often with a cold Coors Light in hand and a smile on his face. He was a friend to so many and maintained decades-long friendships that were as strong as family. His laughter, stories, and presence lit up every room he entered.
Professionally, Kip spent his entire career in sales, where his charisma and drive made him a standout. He made appearances on QVC and was a familiar face at many Consumer Electronics Shows. Most recently, he served as President of Uniden of America, where he led with vision and passion.
Kip is survived by his loving family, including Nancy Sullivan of Naples, FL; his daughter Bailey Walton and her husband Spencer Walton of Dallas, TX, and their daughters Mary and Lucy; his daughter Allyn Sullivan and her husband Daniel Strom of Boston, MA, and their son Declan; and his son Herbert “Nate” Sullivan of Dallas, TX. He was the youngest of five siblings and is survived by Judith Fortin and her husband Lionel Fortin of MA; Peter Sullivan and his wife Paula Sullivan of VA; and Mary Sullivan of Cape Cod, MA. He is preceded in death by his father Herbert Sullivan and his mother Annette Sullivan of Falmouth, MA, and his sister Janine Wilson of Riverside, CA. Kip also leaves behind many extended family members and cousins who will forever carry his spirit in their hearts.
A memorial service will be held on September 16, 2025, his birthday, in Falmouth, Massachusetts, where friends and family will gather to celebrate Kip’s remarkable life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Jimmy V Foundation, in honor of Kip’s lifelong love of sports and community.
