Homer Edward Wallace, born February 2, 1938, in Jermyn, Texas, to August Day Wallace and Mollie Belle Friend, lived a life defined by hard work, service, and deep love for his family. He passed away leaving behind a legacy of kindness, craftsmanship, and quiet strength.
At just 18 years old, Homer married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Warthen, on March 22, 1956. Together, they began their life in Indiana, Pa., where Homer worked as a roughneck on gas and oil wells. In 1957, they returned to Texas, settling in Wichita Falls, where their first daughter, Marie Annette, was born on August 12, 1957. Two and a half years later, they welcomed their second daughter, Donna Ann, born on February 17, 1960, in Andrews, Texas. Homer was thankful for his sons-in-law, Randal Mark McClelland and David Earl Brown.
Homer built a strong and steady career over the years, working at BS&B in Ardmore, Okla., and later as a supervisor at Bell Helicopter in Hurst, Tx, for thirty years. He retired in 1994 after many years of dedication and hard work.
Outside of his career, Homer had a passion for flying and took great pride in his personal airplanes. He and Barbara shared many special trips together, both by plane and motor home, eventually seeing all 50 states.
Homer was also a deeply devoted Christian whose faith guided his life. He faithfully read from the Bible to beloved Barbara—a quiet but powerful reflection of his steadfast devotion to both his faith and his marriage. He served faithfully as a member of Cross Church NRH.
While he had a fulfilling career and many interests, Homer’s role in life centered around his family. His grandchildren remember his guiding hands and heart as they worked together on many projects—birdhouses, treasure chests, school projects, and fairs. He was always present, always patient, and always ready to share a piece of his favorite Trident gum.
Homer will be remembered for his steady presence, his hardworking spirit, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. His life was a testament to what matters most—faithfulness, family, and the simple, meaningful moments shared together.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
