Howard was born to Albert Roland and Ora Estell Nix in Sparkman, Ark., on May 10, 1932. He was immersed in the Christian influence that would be his lifelong support from an early age. He received a theological degree from Ouachita Baptist College in Arkansas and later attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. He pastored two churches throughout his ministry, Chidester Baptist Church in Chidester, Ark., and Melody Hills Baptist Church in Fort Worth.
Howard was blessed with a large and loving family. He married Peggy Morgan in 1955. They served the Lord faithfully and fervently together throughout their marriage at Birdville Baptist Church. Peggy passed away at age 56 in 1990. A few years later, Howard married Betty Graham. They enjoyed traveling and gardening, and also served the Lord together for many years. Howard was kind, gracious and honest man who was so very faithful to his family, friends and, most of all, His Lord. He was devoted to helping others come to know the Lord, Jesus Christ, who had made such a difference in his own life. As a dad and Paw Paw, he was so stable, patient, loving, always filled with wisdom, encouragement, and lots of fun.
Howard was an educator at heart and always had time to teach and help students of all ages. As a pastor and Sunday school teacher to an elementary school teacher, and ultimately an elementary school principal, he always went above and beyond the call of duty. He later received a BA and an MA in education.
He will be dearly missed by his loved ones and many friends. Nevertheless, all can celebrate the fact that his God is still faithful and he now resides in heaven for eternity because of his faith in Jesus Christ.
Howard was preceded in death by his first precious wife, Peggy Nix, and most recently, his dear wife, Betty, by one day, July 25, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Maxine Reynolds La Dosca Reynolds; two brothers, Albert Roland Jr. and Franklin Nix.
Survivors: His sister, Radell Manning; his daughter, Tammy Fieseler and son-in-law, Rick Fieseler. He was lovingly also known as stepfather to Betty's children, Glenda Smith and Terry Graham. He is also survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Stephen Smith and Jan Graham. He has four grandchildren, Hannah Fieseler, Stephanie and Ryan Smith, and Blake Graham.
Arrangements under the direction of Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, Colleyville, Texas.
