She was born in Haskell, TX, to Walter Lee and Willie Bell Wheeler, on November 9, 1929. Her family moved to Oklahoma in 1934. Imogene graduated Wilson High School in 1947, where she played basketball and was voted "Most Attractive Girl" her senior year.
She was married to the love of her life, Robert Hugh Pitzer, on August 10, 1951. She was a loving and devoted wife until his death on December 31, 1991. She valued hard work and had many different endeavors throughout her career, including Texas Instruments, Tasty Bread and Magic Texaco. She continued to work until her retirement at the young age of 84.
Imogene welcomed any and everyone into her life and home, giving them love, attention and advice, even if it was hard to hear. She taught people the value of kindness and generosity through her selflessness. She had an amazing gift that made everyone feel special and loved. Throughout all of her seasons of life, she consistently believed in God, believed in her husband and believed in all of her children. If someone needed her, she was always there no matter what.
She was survived by her children, Don Thompson and wife, Vicki, Ragenia Lowery, Ginger Keels and husband, David; her grandchildren, Clint Thomspon, Hester Rodriguez, Justin Thompson, Walter Thompson, Anne McCarthy, Camille Haley, Bobby Thompson, Riley Thompson, Thomas Pitzer, Chris Lowery, Kaysey Cloud, Sarah Jambers, Brian Keels, Matthew Keels, Robyn Rivers and Jacob Keels, and their respective spouses; 28 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren with three more on the way this year; her sister, Helen Neidholt.
She was predeceased by her parents, Walter Lee and Willie Wheeler; her husband, Robert Hugh Pitzer; her son, Thomas Lee Pitzer; four sisters and three brothers.
We loved her big but she loved us bigger. She will be missed here on earth but is rejoicing with all those that have gone before her.
