October 5, 1947 – February 17, 2026
With love and sorrow, we announce the passing of James Howard Grant, who went home to be with Jesus on February 17, 2026, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Dallas, Texas, to Ginner and Ruth Grant, James lived a life marked by love, loyalty and laughter. James served his community as a Cockrell Hill police officer, and later dedicated 35 years of faithful service to UPS.
James was a devoted follower of Jesus and faithful member of Mission City Church in Fort Worth. James was known for his joking spirit, storytelling, and warm humor. He loved to make people laugh! But those closest to him knew his deepest character trait was love. He loved his family fiercely, protectively, and faithfully. But above all, he loved Jesus!
In 1971, he married the love of his life, Sandra, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in commitment, love, and loyalty. Together they built a family and a home filled with stories, laughter, and faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a twin brother, Wayne Harold Grant, sister, Barbara Jean, and his stepson, Lee Kelsoe.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Grant; daughter in law, Amanda Kelsoe; his stepson, Tony Kelsoe and wife April; his daughters, Tammy Gibson and husband Christopher and Debora Horn and husband David; and 8 grandchildren; Heather, Stephanie, Ashley, Brooke, Austin, Chloe, Travis, & Hannah, and 5 great-grandchildren; Caleb, Hudson, Liam, Elsie and Jack, who will carry his stories, his laughter, and his love forward.
James will be remembered not only for what he did, but for who he was: a servant, a protector, a storyteller, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a man whose love left a permanent mark on every life he touched.
We rest in the knowledge that we will see him again in heaven.
Visitation will be February 25, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home; 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034. Funeral service will be February 26, 2026 at 1:30pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
