

On Thursday, October 24, 2019, Jimmy Rogers, loving husband and father of four, passed away at the age of 88 in Fort Worth, Texas. Jimmy was born May 27, 1931, to parents Pearl and Carson Rogers, and was raised in Fort Worth.
Jimmy started working in his teens at the family business, Rogers Food Store, on the south-side of Fort Worth. While still a teen he met Julia Ann Kirkpatrick at church, and in 1950 they wed. Their marriage lasted 52 years, until Julie passed away in 2002 at the age of 69.
There were 4 children born to this marriage; Celeste, Cynthia, Lee Ann, and Patrick.
In the 1960’s Jimmy went into real estate and quickly became successful in that endeavor. As a result, Jimmy started his first company, Colony Homes. He found land to develop and built affordable homes all over Tarrant County, employing hundreds of people. He became an active member of the Tarrant County Homebuilders, the Texas Homebuilders, and the National Homebuilders Associations. He held various offices in these groups from secretary to President. He traveled many times to Washington DC to lobby for these builders groups, and won many awards for his hard work. Later, Jimmy formed a partnership of developers and builders named the Covenant Group. They began by building retirement centers and housing all over Texas and worked in conjunction with churches to provide housing for elderly church members.
Throughout his life, Jimmy loved to travel with his wife and work at his farm in Covington, Texas. The farm was a gathering place for the whole family, especially on holidays, and created many happy memories.
In 2002 Jimmy’s wife Julie passed away. Subsequently he had a happy second marriage to Jaynie Wooten until she passed away in 2016.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Carson and Pearl, his brother Grover and wife Betty, and brother Bob.
Jimmy is survived by his children Celeste, Cindy Davenport (Bryan), Lee Ann, Patrick (Ann Bever), his sister, Chloedonn Fincher and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, Colleyville, Texas at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
