Today we are gathered here to honor the life of John Robert Peters who entered this world on May 7, 1933 to parents Matilda and John Peters, who precede him in death. He is survived by one sister, Lydia "Lee" Jacobs, four children, son James and daughters Lynn, Deborah and Barbara, grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his wife of 35 years, Jean, and children Kathryn Stacy and husband James; Mark Thomasson and wife Susan; Michael Thomasson and wife Lori and Shawn Thomasson and wife Lori. John was the proud "Papa" to nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He loved them all very much and they brought him great joy.
John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1944-1947. He worked in the Pentagon as a self-proclaimed "glorified typist". He enjoyed a successful career as a chemical engineer. In later years he was self-employed and owned his own vending machine company.
John and Jean resided in Euless for 35 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. As an individual, he was unassuming and a quiet hardworking intelligent man. He exhibited an honest way of life and instilled a strong work ethic to all who knew him. He enjoyed playing games and was an avid reader. Reading his Bible everyday became a habit and he liked having the Bible read to him when they travelled.
Now, John takes up residence at a new address...Heaven. He has achieved his ultimate reward, eternal life. His greatest wish would be for all those he loved to join him there. He was a wonderfully kind and gentle soul and we celebrate his life today with all joy that he has received his ultimate reward and heard the words "Well done my good and faithful servant".
So we will not say "goodbye" but rather "wait for us, we'll be there shortly". Your loving family.
