Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Catholic Community, Colleyville. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Bluebonnet Chapel.
Johnnie was born and raised in Pittsburg. He graduated from UNT and TCU with his master's degree. In his professional life he had been a debate coach, salesman and professor of speech. In his personal life he was a husband, father, brother, uncle, Pop Pop and friend. Johnnie thought of his children, Tim and Amanda, as his greatest accomplishments. He loved bringing laughter into your life, sports, Texas Hold 'em, gardening, smoking brisket, playing washers, Las Vegas with his mother-in-law and food shopping. Johnnie fought a long battle with cancer and congestive heart disease. He worked what little he could right up to the end as he loved teaching kids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Survivors: Wife, Liz; children, Tim and wife, Stephanie, Amanda and fiance, Matt; mother-in-law, Anne; brother, James (Paula); grandkids, Melissa, Allison and Matt; nephews and nieces; and many, many friends.
