

Joseph Winston Shelton was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Joseph will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
He was the son of Tom and Myrtle Shelton.
Joseph was raised with one brother, Tony. Joseph was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
Empathic and loyal, Joseph was committed to making his new family happy.
Joseph worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Joseph was blessed with two sons, John and David.
Fortunately, Joseph enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Joseph worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. He was a long time employee of Euless Aero Components. Joseph always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
He was a Korean War veteran. His fellow soldiers viewed him as a brother in arms and knew that he was as much a part of their family as their loved ones back home.
Joseph enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Joseph enjoyed many family gathering and outings, which usually involved camping, cook-outs and swimming trips. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Throughout his life, Joseph was a doer and was always actively involved in professional and community organizations. He was a Master of the Masons, and a member of the Shriners, Eastern Star, Scottish Rites, and York Rites, he was very active and loved helping others.
When Joseph’s retirement finally arrived in 1997, he was well prepared. Even in retirement, Joseph continued to stay in touch with his old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. Joseph was active in his new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered him.
Joseph passed away on July 8, 2016 in Bedford, Texas. A kind and loving man has gone to be a guardian angel. He will lovingly watch over his wife of 65 years, Mary Ann Shelton; sons, John Shelton and David Shelton; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Tony Shelton and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family members. Services were held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Colleyville, Texas. Joseph was laid to rest in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas.
Joseph was an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Joseph leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Joseph Winston Shelton. Though he has left us in body, his wonderful smile and memories will forever be with us.

The family will welcome friends during Visitation held on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 4pm to 8pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, Texas, 76034. The Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 3pm at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: George Harvey, George Hammons, Kim Shelton, Donny Shelton, Kenny Hammons, Tim Hammons and Larry Shelton. Joseph was born in Pilot Point, Texas.
