Kathryn Sellers of Colleyville, Texas, passed away on February 20, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born February 23, 1934, in Fort Worth, Texas to Mickey and Herbert Russell. Kathryn graduated from Diamond Hills High School, where she retained many life-long friends.
Kathryn was first married to Rex Bowers, her high school sweetheart; followed by Billy Sellers, the father of her two daughters, Rhonda and Delana. Her final marriage was to Robert (Bob) Walke, who blessed her with two stepchildren.
Kathryn’s first job was working as a dental assistant, later moving up to office manager. She remained in the dental profession for all of her working years.
Kathryn was a born-again Christian. She had always believed in her faith, but in recent years she truly took God and Jesus Christ into her life and heart. She lived her life with never-ending, bountiful love for her family and friends. She was a Northstar, a guiding light for all who were blessed with her love. We can all take comfort in knowing that her soul now rests in heaven.
Kathryn loved the outdoors—hunting, fishing, gardening. But she was at her best indoors. Attending the Senior Citizen Center, she loved to play games and shined in jaw-dropping costumes in the Dress-Up Events. She loved the holidays—always went above and beyond decorating and hosting Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter feasts. Her grand and great-grandchildren warmed her heart, and “Grandma KK” warmed theirs. Last, but not least, Kathryn lived to attend concerts by Kraig Parker, a consummate Elvis impersonator and dear to her heart.
Kathryn is survived by her two daughters, Rhonda and her husband Gerry Usrey; and Delana and her husband, Eddie Coates. Also, six grandchildren: Justin Leggett and wife Tara; Crystal Leggett; Heather Evans and husband Pac; Michael Usrey; Valerie Whitney and husband Aaron; and Denea Green and husband Bobby. Nine great-grandchildren: Alyssa Brown; Lucy, Cooper, and Lyla Leggett; Maddox, Kennedi and Korbin Evans; and Kingston and Talon Ayres. Also, stepchildren: Bob Walke and his wife, Linda; and Shelly Hammett and her husband, Mike; and Darrick Pierce. Finally, her “Other Daughters,” as she put it: Jana Fisher and husband Mike; and Jena Fisher and husband Greg.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mickie McMillan; her father, Herbert Russell and brother James (Jimmy) Russell. Also, her newborn baby daughter, Deborah Susan Bowers. Also, Jane Ann and Jimmy Martin, and their son, Jimmy Mack.
Services will be at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, Colleyville, on Monday, March 3. Visitation at noon and Celebration of Life at 1:00. Burial at the Bluebonnet cemetery at 2:00.
