Marilyn was born on June 28, 1934 to Opal and Charles Keener in Morrilton, Arkansas. She passed away peacefully on February 8 at the age of 88 in the comfort of her home located in Crowley, Texas. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Marilyn grew up in Arkansas where she learned to play piano at her local church. She later moved to Fort Worth where she found a great career and met her loving husband Emmett Bailey in 1954. Marilyn and Emmett married and together they raised one son, Mike Bailey living in the community of Keller. She worked for General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin for 41 years in the accounting department and retired at the age of 63. She was always known for her hard work and commitment to her job and family. Marilyn and Emmett later moved and eventually retired on lake Granbury. They spent many years on the lake creating special memories with their family.
Marilyn was known for her warm welcoming smile and her love and dedication for her family. She was truly the heart of her family and created a loving home. Her heart was filled with joy when hosting family for holiday gatherings, birthdays and any reason she could find to spend time with family. This is where she had the ability to connect personally with each one of her family and friends to share encouraging words and care for everyone she loved. She always enjoyed cooking and providing meals for her family. Marilyn’s traditions will be carried on through her children and grandchildren. With her sense of adventure she loved to travel and take cruises to new locations and beach destinations.
One of her greatest joys was watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up and thrive. “Meemaw” as they called her, was always present for their school programs, sports games, birthday’s or any other special occasion. You could always count on her to attend and provide cheerful conversation. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 69 years, Emmett Bailey; her son, Mike Bailey; grandson Jeff Bailey, his wife Wendy Bailey and their children Cash and Colt; granddaughter Molly New, her husband Jason New and their children Lily and Grant; Sister in law Bonnie Bailey; Nieces Shelly Keener and Kristi Bailey; nephews Derrell and Kenny Keener and Richard Bailey.
