Clydene Fletcher passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 surrounded by her family. Clydene was born on October 2, 1932 to Estelle and Clyde Harris in Little Elm, TX. She was raised in rural Texas during the depression and during those years she developed a quick wit, lots of self-discipline and a self-effacing sense of humor. She was the first person in her family to graduate from college. As an elementary school teacher in the Birdville School system she worked to bring her love for learning to her students for over 35 years. Throughout her life she loved to read and was active in her book club. She also had a love for travel.
While at college in Denton, TX she met George Fletcher. They married in 1955 and they shared 64 years together before his passing in 2019. Clydene is survived by, and her memory cherished by her daughter Debbie Dacy and her husband, Calvin Dacy; her son Michael Fletcher and his wife Chris Grygon; and her grandson Sean Dacy and his wife Brittany. She also has a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Clydene was a warm honest person who cared deeply for her family and her friends. In her later years she was blessed with the support of enduring friendships of the educators that she met during her career as a teacher and her church family. She was often searching for ways to help those around her and after retirement she remained active in the Birdville Association of Retired Service Personnel (BARSP), her church and several other community organizations.
