Mary ‘Evelyn’ McIntosh of North Richland Hills, assured by her trust and faith in Jesus Christ, passed into Heaven on March 8, 2026. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Evelyn was born on November 25, 1934, in Gorman, TX to Charles and Opal Keith.
Her parents owned and operated roller skating rinks in the 1930’s and 40’s on Fort Worth ‘s north side and Daggett Ave. Starting about age 3, she became a dazzling skating sensation. Beginning in the late 40’s her parents operated the Forest Park Golf Driving Range on University Drive near the Fort Worth Zoo, and her skill at driving golf balls ‘long and straight’ also quickly emerged. She attended Arlington Heights High School, where her senior year she was editor of the ‘Yellow Jackets’ yearbook. She next attended and graduated from TCU, where she was an officer in the Future Teachers student organization. She then taught first grade in the Fort Worth school district.
In 1956, Doyle McIntosh, a smiling airman from Tennessee stationed at Carswell Air Base, captured her heart, and they were married and established their home in Fort Worth. A few years later they moved to the Smithfield area in northeast Tarrant County, where they raised their four children. In 1963, they joined North Richland Hills Baptist Church (now Cross Church) and there she continued her love for teaching young children, directing the 4-yr old Sunday School department for many years.
Her deep joys in life were her faith, her family and her church. She was passionate about the importance of scripture memory, and was devoted to nurturing the practice of ‘hiding thy Word in my heart’ with her children and grandchildren, an accomplishment she treasured and highly celebrated. Serving others and generosity were the hallmarks of her life.
Evelyn is survived by: son, Joe McIntosh and wife, Roxanna; son, Johnny McIntosh and wife, Gene; daughter, Janice Callaway and husband, Jay; daughter-in-law, Julie McIntosh; 10 grandchildren: Michelle Teague (Jonathan), Joseph McIntosh (Whitney); John McIntosh, Lydia Pedroza (Mark), Chloe Daugherty (TJ); Abigail McIntosh; Jordan Baumer (Richard), Jenna Reyna (Andrew), Jensen Callaway; and Brooke McIntosh. 24 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle McIntosh, son, James McIntosh, her parents and brother, Ed Keith.
Her legacy will continue being lived out in the lives of her family who loved her dearly.
