“Matt G” was born on May 5th, 1980, otherwise known as “Cinco De Matto”. It is fitting he was born on a holiday because he lived life as a celebration. He grew up in Arlington and was the youngest of Frank & Elisabeth’s four children. After graduating from SMU, Matt went on to get his MBA at the better metroplex university—TCU. While attending the Neely School of Business, Matt met and fell in love with his bride Summer. Matt had finance and stock picking in his DNA. He started his finance career in Fort Worth but always aspired for something greater, so in 2011 he took a chance on a job in NYC. He won many friends, influenced many people and welcomed his two blonde boys during his time there. In 2021 Matt seized an opportunity to reconnect to his sunny southern roots by moving to Miami. He and Summer had spent 18 years traveling to exotic beaches and he was excited to watch his boys grow up in a tropical city.
Matt was larger than life, and not just because he was nearly 6’7. He was boisterous and jovial and had a presence that would command a room. His smile and laughter were contagious. He was truly one of a kind. He will leave a hole in our hearts bigger than his size 13 Air Jordans.
He is survived by his devoted wife Summer and their two sons Barrett and Bishop; his loving mother Elisabeth Ganucheau; his brothers Peter and David; his sisters Susan and Laurie; and a gaggle of Ganucheau nieces and nephews, Luke and his wife Hope, Ben, Grace, Mark, John, Nathan, Zachary, Natalie and Megan. He was preceded in death by his father Frank who was undoubtedly there to welcome him with open arms, and his mother in law Denise Bennett who was probably ready to kick him back to earth to stay with Summer.
A celebration of life service will be held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, TX on Saturday July 9th, 2022 at 3pm.
