Born in California, raised in Euless, Texas, Matt graduated from Trinity High School in 1978 then married his high school sweetheart in 1979. Playing baseball with his son and listening to music with his daughter brought him insurmountable joy. He earned his degree in Computer Automated Drafting, although loved his passengers at City of Arlington HandiTran more. He always had a kind and giving heart for those less fortunate. He would pay for many bus rides for his passengers and provided an ear for listening. His passengers loved him as did his close friends. Matt was the friend always there to lend a helping hand as he could fix just about anything. He was a member of Tate Springs Baptist Church. Recently, he and his friends formed the motorcycle group LGM Riders and took their inaugural ride on June 29th. Even though his death is a tragic loss, he died doing what he loved and what brought him peace, riding his motorcycle.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Mae and father, Joseph Giddens Sr. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sherrill, children, Chase and Courtnie, six siblings: Ginger Schofield, Joseph Giddens, Jr., Annie Gaver, Edith Taylor, Carole Kelley, Rachel Brocker, 18 nieces and nephews, 16 great nieces and nephews plus friends too numerous to count.
