He met the love of his life, Elsie, and became her loving husband for 57 years during which they raised 4 children. They lived in Grapevine and became members of St. Francis Catholic Church in 1965. M.C. soon discovered his path to follow God’s words and studied to become a Deacon. M.C. was Ordained in 1984 and served the Lord at St. Francis of Assisi in Grapevine for 35 years as a volunteer while also providing for his family with his full-time employment.
As a Deacon, he cherished his time serving at each Mass, both in English and Spanish. He was full of joy guiding new parents through the process of Baptizing their new baby. He was proud to assist during a couple’s Holy Matrimony ceremony where he knew they shared a loving bond with each other and God. He was always kind and compassionate as he assisted families during their pain with guidance through the funeral process that will bring their loved ones everlasting peace. M.C. started the Knights of Columbus Council at St. Francis of Assisi in 1978, and remained a member ever since.
Spending time with family was an important part of M.C.’s life. Each summer, they traveled through Texas visiting family on their way to grandma’s house in New Mexico. With 9 brothers and sisters, it wasn’t long before a Family Reunion formed with food, music, and laughter. A fond childhood memory was M.C. in the kitchen with his two daughters making pies, chocolate pie being a favorite. There is no doubt M.C. lived a long life full of love and special memories to leave behind.
M.C. is survived by his wife, Elsie, and their 4 children and their families. Son, Roger and wife Kara of Fort Worth, Texas; Son, Nick, and wife Paula and their daughter Nya of Grapevine, Texas; Daughter, Cynthia and husband Jordi Toops and their children Alexander and Catherine of Prosper, Texas; Daughter, Theresa and husband Shane Armstrong of Telephone, Texas.
