

Born in Los Angeles, California, Melinda was raised in the vibrant neighborhoods of Southern California and went on to graduate from Long Beach State. She married the love of her life, Dan Bankus, in Palos Verdes Estates, California, and together they shared 45 beautiful years of marriage.
In 1982, Melinda and Dan made Texas their home, settling in Grapevine where they raised their two sons, Matthew and Chris. Melinda quickly embraced her adopted state, becoming a proud Texan for the past 43 years.
Professionally, Melinda led an inspiring career, holding roles at IBM and Discovery Records, but the highlight of her work was her time with the Olympics. It was an accomplishment she was deeply proud of and spoke of often. She was known for her warmth, intelligence, fun-loving spirit, and outgoing personality. Melinda never met a stranger and was the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome, seen, and loved.
Melinda is survived by her husband, Dan Bankus of Grapevine; her sons, Matthew Bankus and Chris Bankus and his wife Elizabeth, all of Grapevine; and her sister Hannah Pearson and husband Lon, their daughter Amanda Lowery, Amanda’s husband Bobby, and their son Beau.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Willene Denton.
She will be laid to rest at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
