He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Barbara Fenn; his son Roger Haynes Fenn and wife Zoya of Colleyville, Texas; his daughter Morgan Fenn Hager and husband Jeff Hager of Norman, Oklahoma; his grandchildren Lucas Michael Fenn, Alexandra Dell Fenn, Hudson Haynes Hager, and Blaire Elizabeth Hager; his sisters’ Mary Farmer and Pat Koteras of Houston, Texas; as well as his beloved nieces and nephews.
Michael was a hard working man, devoted husband, loving Dad, and an awesome Grandfather who was called Pops. He was a man of deep faith who lived his life by the Golden Rule, always treating others with kindness, generosity, and respect. He was full of stories, jokes and loved sharing a laugh.
After starting his career at a Specialty Men’s Store in Houston, Texas, Michael was a successful salesman (road warrior) beginning his career in 1976 as a Munsingwear Sales Trainee, who was first transferred to Sacramento, California in September 1977. The next move was to Indianapolis, Indiana where he and Barbara welcomed their son Roger. Mike was promoted to Denver, Colorado where they lived four years and their daughter Morgan was born. They came full circle back to Texas in March 1985 and settled in Arlington for 31 great years. Mike enjoyed a successful career with Munsingwear, Florsheim, Rockport, and Timberland winning numerous awards as Top Performer and Salesman of the Year. About one year after retirement from the corporate world, he wanted to return to sales and landed a perfect position at BSN Sports where he retired in July 2023. Throughout his career he gained the respect of his peers with his ability to make everyone feel comfortable. He was known for his honesty, straight-forwardness, genuine kind spirit, positive attitude, loyalty, and his infectious laugh.
He loved to play golf and enjoyed a game of gin rummy with his buddies. He was an avid fan of the Texas Rangers where the family enjoyed many games over the years. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and kept hoping for another Superbowl win. However, his favorite MVPs were his four grandchildren. He was either at their games cheering them on, playing ball with them, or waiting to hear about the game. He showed up for dance recitals and figure skating with enthusiasm and pride. Pops was always ready to celebrate their achievements with an ice cream date and a high five.
It was a swift onset of illness that took him too soon. We cherished every moment this last month to be with our Mike, say goodbyes, and for his grandchildren to visit and give him hugs.
We miss him terribly and will honor him daily by living like Pops!
The service will be Saturday, March 9, at 11:30 at Bear Creek Golf Club, 3500 Bear Creek Court, Dallas (Euless), Texas.
