Mildred was born in her family home in Coppell, Texas, where she grew up and attended Carrollton High School because there was not a school district in Coppell. Then later raised her family in the communities of Irving and Coppell, Texas.
Mildred was preceded in death by her devoted husband and soulmate, Charles “Charlie” Goodwin, her parents, Floyd and Lona Gentry, her sister, Lena Marie Gentry, her grandson, Cory James Liberto, and her sweet precious puppy, Sugar.
She is survived by her loving children: Ronald Liberto and his wife Angie, Pamela Clark and her husband David, and Candice Lillard and her husband Jason. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren Anthony Willis, Taylor Bridges, and Mira Lillard and her great-grandchildren Lively Willis, Teddy Willis, Mason Brown, Avery Brown, future Baby Willis, Jack Bridges, and Noah Bridges. Each of them carries a piece of her heart and her values forward.
Mildred’s career was as rich and varied as her life. She began working for Dallas County, earned her beauty license in 1962, and owned her own salon. Later, she obtained her real estate license and worked at Minyard’s corporate office before retiring from First Coppell Bank. In every role she held, she led with grace, professionalism, and unwavering integrity.
A quiet but steadfast woman of faith, Mildred’s relationship with Jesus was deeply personal. Her life was a testimony to her beliefs filled with compassion, humility, and unconditional love. She walked the walk with quiet strength, showing through her actions what it meant to be a truly Godly woman.
She was also a warrior. Mildred bravely battled and survived stage 4 colon cancer, enduring a full year of chemotherapy and driving herself to Dallas for each treatment. Her resilience and independence were a reflection of the quiet strength that defined her entire life. She faced illness the same way she faced everything else with grace, courage, and a smile.
To know Mildred was to feel welcomed, accepted, and loved. She was friends with everyone she met, and even strangers were drawn to her warmth. She never judged, always forgave, and approached life with gentle kindness and unwavering grace. Her spirit made others feel at peace, a rare and precious gift in this world.
Mildred enjoyed the simple pleasures of life…a crisp margarita on the rocks, getting lost in a good book, and back in her more spirited days dancing on the bar at Willhoite’s in Grapevine, Texas. She always had a smile on her face, a sparkle in her eye, and a heart open to everyone. Her door was open, her arms even more so.
But above all, her family was her greatest joy and life’s purpose. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and close knit circle of friends were the treasures of her heart, and she made sure each one knew how deeply they were loved.
Mildred Louise Goodwin leaves behind a life well-lived and a legacy deeply felt. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched through her kindness, strength, and quiet, unwavering faith. Though we grieve her absence, we rejoice in knowing that she is now at peace, held in the arms of the Savior she followed all her life.
