Nelda Sharp of Grapevine, Texas passed away on Saturday, May 26. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, friend, and colleague to all that knew and loved her. She was born on August 25th, 1945 in Anniston, Alabama, and always thought of herself as a southern bell! She was a secretary early in her career, but by the time she got to Southwest Airlines, she was passionate about being a part of the Maintenance Team, and about keeping up the FAA Library. She claimed she built engines, just not with her hands – only with paper. She loved the folks she worked with both in Houston and Dallas and talked about them often. She loved cooking special treats for “her mechanics” and you could find them stopping by her office often just to say hi and get a smile from Nelda. Nelda is survived by her daughter Petra Holcomb and husband Mike, her son Erich Rivers and wife Bethany, and daughter Amanda Green and husband Jeremy. She is also survived by 3 sisters, 3 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday, May 30 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel, with a reception to follow at the home of Petra and Mike Holcomb. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.bluebonnethills.com. The family would love to hear from you. The family is also requesting that you wear bright colors, as Nelda was a colorful woman!
