Patty was born on March 23, 1952, in Lubbock, Texas, to Robert and Doris Murphy. Soon after, the family moved to Abilene, Texas, where she and her siblings attended elementary school, before eventually settling in Irving, Texas in 1968. Patty attended Irving High School, where she graduated before beginning a long and meaningful career with the Irving Independent School District. She dedicated many years of service to the district and eventually retired as the District’s Textbook Coordinator.
Patty lived a life defined by kindness, devotion to family, and a quiet strength that uplifted everyone around her. To know her was to experience warmth, encouragement, and unwavering love. She raised three children in Irving and was their most devoted supporter, proudly cheering them on throughout their lives. Her home was always open, and she often became a “second mother” to many of her children’s friends. A loving mother, grandmother, and friend, Patty created a home filled with laughter, wisdom, compassion, and love. She had a remarkable gift for making others feel welcome, whether through a comforting conversation, a home-cooked meal, or a simple act of kindness. Her family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride in the lives and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Throughout her life, Patty enjoyed cooking, working word puzzles, watching movies, traveling, and most of all, spending time with family and friends. She appreciated life’s simple pleasures and held a deep belief in the importance of faith, family, and community.
She is lovingly survived by her sister, Barbara Zimmerman (Granville); son, Dwayne Letart (Sandy Pettigrew), daughter, Christy Rodriguez (Jaime), and daughter, Mandy Letart; her grandchildren, Dakota Rodriguez (Rusti) and Anthony Rodriguez (Viveka Stokes); great-grandchildren, Charlee, Cheston, and Chase as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Doris (Philley) Murphy, along with her brother, L.D. Spain (Dody).
While our hearts are heavy with loss, we celebrate the beautiful life Patty lived and the legacy of love she leaves behind. Her kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit will continue to guide those who knew and loved her for generations to come. A celebration of Patty’s life will be held on April 24th, 2026 1:30 PM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, Texas.
Though she is no longer with us, her love remains forever in our hearts.
