Retha “Mimi” Joyce Choat Crisp, 93, passed away peacefully at her home on January 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in 1932 in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Dewey Lloyd Choat and Minnie Bell Shrum Choat, Mimi’s life was defined by love, dedication, adventure, and remarkable achievement.
Mimi began her career as a TWA stewardess, making history as one of the first flight attendants based out of Lawton. While living in Fort Worth, she met the love of her life, Air Force pilot Johnnie Crisp, who pursued her wholeheartedly. They shared a beautiful 56-year marriage until his passing, building a life filled with love, laughter, travel, and unforgettable adventures.
Later, Mimi became a successful realtor and owner of Century 21 Crisp and Company, serving the DFW Metroplex for many years. She concluded her distinguished career at Ebby Halliday, where she was recognized as a million-dollar producer and received numerous awards for her outstanding accomplishments.
A strong and guiding presence in her family, Mimi’s love was evident in the way she celebrated traditions, cooked with joy, and gave herself wholeheartedly to those she loved. She had a special gift for bringing people together and making every gathering memorable. Cherished memories include pool parties on Eagle Drive, horses on Bluebonnet Drive, and countless happy days at the lake house on Possum Kingdom Lake.
In later years, Mimi enjoyed companionship with Robert Lamb and continued to travel and experience life fully. She remained resilient, independent, and deeply devoted to her family.
Mimi treasured her many friendships, including her water aerobics group, fellow realtors, church friends, and neighbors, and she remained grateful for each of them throughout her life.
She is survived by her son, Scott Crisp, and grandson, Jacob Crisp; her daughter, Kelly Irvine, her husband Mathew, and grandson Joshua Lee; her niece, Ranae Phillips, and husband Robert Phillips, and their children, Asa Terrill and Toni Phillips; and her nephew, Marc Choat, and his son, Aaron Choat.
