Richard E. Borkowski, (Dick) was born to Mary Yarema Borkowski & Edward Borkowski on
11 August 1940 in Manhattan, NY.
Attended LaSalle Academy, Graduated in the 100th graduating class in 1958.
Joined the US Marine Corps shortly after High School.
Studied at New York Institute of Technology
Married Patricia Harrop on 29 September 1962 and had 2 children, Son Richard Michael, (Lynne) wife, (Katherine) daughter. Daughter Mary Elizabeth McIntyre (Joel, Ryan) twin sons.
Moved to East Setauket, Long Island in 1965
While working for Simmons Precision, the family transferred to Hurst, Texas in September 1968. While working for Simmons Precision he traveled all over the world marketing and selling aircraft instrumentation and fuel gauging equipment. It was during this time that he fell in love with travel and especially Europe.
Became active at St. John the Apostle church and school
Coaching basketball for St. John’s the Apostle, N. Richland Hills, Texas.
Coaching basketball Mid-Cities Little Dribblers, League Champions and All-Star National Champions beating teams from Louisiana, New Mexico, Indiana and California.
His church activities involved being active with the Cursillo, Marriage Encounter & Engaged Encounter
After 2 more transfers for Simmons….one to Wichita, Kansas and one to Plantation, Florida, he moved his family back to his beloved Texas!
Through his prior work experiences, he learned a great deal about Night Vision Goggles and NVG Lighting as used in aircraft environments and in 1996 he started his own company REB Technologies Inc. “REBTECH”. Today REBTECH is still one of the leading NVG Lighting companies in the world.
Richard loved golf, fishing, reading and watching WWII movies and documentaries and his grandchildren growing up. He relaxed by listening to his music, he had a great voice. He loved dancing, sports, his pipe, but above all Loved his God and his family.
Richard leaves behind his beloved wife Pat, son Richard, daughter in law Lynne, daughter Mary Elizabeth and his three grandchildren; Katherine, Joel and Ryan.
Family request memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
