

Robert Glen Estes was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Robert will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
He was the son of Wesley and Juanita Estes. Robert grew up in Hagerman, New Mexico.
Robert was raised with two sisters, Wanda and Linda, and one brother, James. Robert was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
A typical teenager, Robert had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers. Bob's High school accomplishments included being class President for three years and four years of lettering in sports.
Robert enjoyed his college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Robert was able to manage the balancing act. He attended Eastern New Mexico University and the University of Arkansas.
Empathic and loyal, Robert was committed to making his new family happy.
Robert worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Robert was blessed with one son, Randolph and one daughter, Nancy. Another blessing for Robert was the gift of three grandchildren, Emily, Taylor, and Luke.
Robert was an Army veteran. His fellow soldiers viewed him as a brother in arms and knew that he was as much a part of their family as their loved ones back home.
Robert enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were flying his Piper Lance all around the United States and Mexico and playing golf with his family and friends. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Robert was a man who took pride in upholding his beliefs. So it is little wonder that he took an active role in his community, Bob served on many local and state boards including: Councilman and Water Commissioner of Dexter, NM, First Vice President of Farm Bureau of Chaves County, Salvation Army Board of Roswell, Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell Advisory Board, Board member of First Interstate Bank, New Mexico Area Director of Community Bible Study, and Board member of La Vie ministry in Alto, NM. Bob was instrumental in starting the National Day of Prayer in Roswell, held on the courthouse lawn each year in May. Bob also worked with the Fellowship Foundation in Washington, and worked to establish orphanages in Mexico and China. Politically, Robert was a Republican conservative.
Robert passed away on March 25, 2016 at his home in Keller, Texas. He is survived by his best friend, love of his life, and partner for 55 years, Nadine Estes; son, Randolph L. Estes of DFW area; daughter, Nancy Walker and her husband Scott of Alto, New Mexico; three grandchildren, Emily Baskaran and her husband Suganth of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Taylor Walker of Richardson, TX. And Luke Walker of Alto, NM; sister, Dr. Wanda Hartman and husband Dr. Roger Hartman of Tulsa, OK; brother James Estes and wife Terri of Scottsdale, AZ, brother-in-law, Duane Green of Roswell, NM, mother-in-law Mildred Helton, brother-in-law Jim Helton and wife Linda of Hot Springs, AR. Survivors also include numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends all over the world. Services were held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Colleyville, Texas.
Simply stated, Robert was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Robert leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Robert Glen Estes.

KELLER -- Bob Glen Estes was born February 9, 1939 in Mesa, AZ. to Juanita and Wesley Estes. Bob grew up in Hagerman, NM. and graduated from Hagerman High School. Bob's high school accomplishments included being class President for three years and four years of lettering in sports. Bob was known for his ease in speaking with others and had a fondness for storytelling, which earned him first district and third place in state public speaking. Bob was extremely proud of his representation at the New Mexico Boys' State and his election to first alternate to Boys' Nation in Washington, D.C. Bob was also selected to be an honorary page in the House of Representatives, which led to an interest and participation in all things politics in his adult life. His personal politics were based on the Republican conservative philosophies of President Ronald Reagan. After attending Eastern New Mexico University and the University of Arkansas, Bob joined the United States Army, Armor division becoming a tank commander. Bob always had an entrepreneurial spirit, which started with his trademarking of a frozen carbonated beverage, ICEE, which he brought to California and Nevada. The ICEE endeavor led to him establishing the Freezee brand in the Hawaiian Islands. Due to his success in the ICEE business, he was able to invest in businesses in his beloved Pecos Valley of New Mexico. Bob's businesses included, Estes International Farm and Truck Supply in Roswell and Las Cruces, New Mexico, Estes Transportation, Country Club Dairy and Creamery, and a fertilizer and chemical company in Roswell. Never one to just stick with one business at a time, he also owned Ranan Mining in Mexico and was the Director of Fuentes Export and Import in Texas as well as owning the Zia pipeline, an oil and gas operation in Oklahoma. Bob also spent many years in South America involved with oil and gas opportunities including time in Venezuela and Colombia with his mentor, John Askew. Bob later invested in Brooks Supermarket in Lubbock, TX and purchased the Ru-el Shop in Hot Springs, AR. No matter his interest in all of his business endeavors, his true work passion was in farming as he owned and operated Estes Farms in Pecos Valley New Mexico and in Dell City, Texas. Bob served on many local and state boards including: Councilman and Water Commissioner of Dexter, NM, First Vice President of Farm Bureau of Chaves County, Salvation Army Board of Roswell, Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell Advisory Board, Board member of First Interstate Bank, New Mexico Area Director of Community Bible Study, and Board member of La Vie ministry in Alto, NM. Surely he will never be shaken; the righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. he will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord." Psalm 112: 5-7.
