Robert was a graduate of Palestine High School. Robert served his country with pride during the Vietnam war in the United States Navy and returned on April 3rd 1969. Robert married Lana Turner, the love of his life on July 18th 1969 and they were together until Roberts passing. Robert worked for Bell Helicopter in Ft. Worth Texas for 32 years and really enjoyed what he did there.
He retired from Bell in 2002. After retirement, Robert and Lana bought property in the Brushy Creek area near Palestine Texas, built a log home there and loved living out in the country. Anyone that ever met Robert knew him to be generous and giving and he had been known to literally give the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it. He never met a stranger and if you wanted to know what he thought about any subject, all you had to do was ask.
He was also good at throwing out random trivia facts just because he found them to be interesting. Robert loved NASCAR racing and never missed a chance to watch the races when they were going on. He also never missed watching the Indy 500. When he wasn't enjoying the races or football, Robert was always finding something to fix or work on around the house. He was good at working with wood, loved guitars, and more than anything loved his wife Lana. Robert could also find some of the most obscure out of the way places to eat and when he found one, it was his new favorite until he found a new one to check out.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lucille Griffith, brother Johnny Griffith, Brother in law Harvey Ricks, and Father in law Charles Turner and Brother in law Larry Turner.
Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years Lana Griffith, 2 sisters, Donna Ricks of Athens, Bea Sterling and husband Gordon of Sundridge Ontario, Sister in law Charlotte Griffith of Ft. Worth, Mother in law Louise Turner and Brother in law David Turner. Robert also leaves behind multiple nieces and nephews who thought he hung the moon as well as countless friends and neighbors who were proud to call him friend.
