Samuel Lee Lovell, a beloved husband and father, passed away February 6, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas, after a nearly 2-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57. He was born in Grand Prairie, Texas, on December 19, 1966, to parents Thomas and Wanda Lovell.
Sam was a cherished husband to Natalie as they experienced life together in a 33-year marriage. Their relationship began 38 years ago when they both worked at Toys ‘R Us as high school teens. They married on August 10, 1990. Sam was also the loving father of his only child, Travis. Sam put in many hours of volunteer time with Travis’ high school marching band. He got to know every member of that drum line. When Travis was in the youth group at Crown of Life, Sam was there as a volunteer.
Sam began working at Republic National Distributing Company in 2006, enjoying his time as a wine merchandiser who got to meet new people all the time. He was a lifelong Texas Rangers fan who was thrilled to witness the long-awaited Texas Rangers World Series victory in 2023. He was proud of his ever-growing baseball card collection and his Texas Ranger hat collection.
Known by friends and family as “Sam” or “Sammy,” he never met a stranger. Befriending anyone came naturally, and he formed bonds and relationships with whomever he met throughout his life.
Sam’s kind and friendly manner brightened the days of many. When Sam, Natalie, and Travis moved into their home 23 years ago, they called an air conditioning technician, Lenny, to check their system in the fall and spring. Lenny would always schedule Sam for his last time slot on a Friday, so they had plenty of time to visit. They would spend time together during those appointments talking about baseball and their kids.
Sam is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Lovell. He is survived by his wife, Natalie Lovell; son and daughter-in-law, Travis Lovell and Staci Shaw; his mother, Wanda Lovell; his brother, Benny Lovell; his sister, Barbara McGee; his nephews Byron McGee and Jason McGee; and his niece Brandy Hardage. He also leaves behind several grand nieces and nephews.
Sam's Celebration of Life will take place Friday, February 23rd, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Colleyville, TX 76034.
