Teresa and all, we just heard.  I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear this.  My heart breaks for you all.  I remember Alex as an infant and unfortunately too few times after that.  I believe Mary is by his side.

Alex wrote me the sweetest letter while serving in the Marines.  I was so proud of him and was able to follow his activities while he basic training through an online program. He was always trying to do his very best at all of it and succeeded in doing great.  He was very athletic and handsome too.  He will always be thought of with much love.     I was proud to be his Great-Aunt.

To the family of  Alex, I had the priviledge and the honor to be on the flight from Charlotte to Memphis with Alex on his way home to you. For that short time it seemed he was our family, to be protected until he reach home safely. It was a very emotional flight with many passengers and flight attendants in tears for your tremendous loss. We didn't know his name at the time, we only knew he was a fallen soilder that had touched our lives that day.
 Please accept my condolences for your family. May you find comfort in the precious memories of Alex, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Alex was one of the few friends that I have had in my life. I had the extreme fortune of being able to have him as friend. Alex seemed reserved until he’d get comfortable and be so funny and goofy. From giving him answers to his homework to helping him talk to somebody he didn’t know how to talk to we helped him whenever he asked. On the outside Alex looked tough with his cool tattoos but his demeanor was calm and gentle. Even after so much training our marine had always kept his sense of humor. Whether it was him messing with me or me trying to get him to break his poker face, I loved every second of it. Every moment I got the chance to be with Alex was time I treasured. Alex always was able to help me forget about the stresses of life and enjoy our time together as friends. When we would have say goodbye to him we would be wishing we could meet up again immediately. The sting I feel in my chest and throat from being away from him like this weighs on me everyday. I imagined our lives would be filled with so many more journeys and stories blessed with him there. My memories with you, Alex, I will cherish them forever. You have my utmost gratitude for being there with me Alexander. I love you brother, may your soul rest in peace.

Alex wasn’t just my best friend, he was family. I am shattered by his death. I miss him dearly and will never forget how much love he had in his heart. I remember when we took English during our sophomore year, if we weren’t doing work, we would be fooling around. He would be sitting right behind me, and he would mess with me by shaking my seat with his feet. He would also take his pencil and poke me with it. If he asked me to do something and was told no, I would get a very dramatic “I hate you” from him. That goofball would also say that if I teased him, if we were playing video games, you name it. He was always joking around and trying to get a rise out of me, but it was always out of love from the bottom of his heart. I will never forget you, Alex. You will always have my heart and you will never be forgotten. Thank you for being a part of my life. Rest in peace, my brother. 

Alex had a dream of becoming a Marine and he did it and did it well. Basic Training is extremely hard and he breezed right through it like a good Marine. I am extremely proud of what he accomplished.  He will forever be in my heart and thoughts. Rest in Peace Alex.
