Christopher Wayne Dufour, 20, joined his Father and the joy that is his heavenly home on June, 2, 2017. He showed love to so many people and that love has been expressed by so many over these first hard days and will continue throughout our lives. He is at peace and we will be with him in eternity.
Christopher was born in Newport News, VA 0n March 19th, 1997 to David and Julie Dufour. He excelled through Crosswind Elementary, Schilling Middle and Collierville High School. During these years, he played both soccer and lacrosse, ran track with Collierville High and Memphis Jaguars, served on Student Government, and graduated as a National Merit Scholar. He was extremely active in Collierville United Methodist, serving as a camp counselor at Lakeshore UMC Camp, loving on the children at Rio Bravo Ministries Orphanage in Mexico and leading worship in the Youth Praise band. He found a second “home” at the University of Alabama where he was studying to be a Civil Engineer and joined the brotherhood of Sigma Chi. He had just started his internship with Kiewit and was helping design and build roads.
The best explanation we have heard of Christopher is that he was a “human adventure.” He loved to travel and see the world. He loved to be around other people, loved to be where the fun was and if there was nothing going on, he would make the fun happen. At the same time, though, he could make you feel like you were the only one that mattered. He had the best mix of compassion and craziness that made this world a better place. Our solace comes from the fact that we will be with him for eternity.
Christopher is survived by his parents David and Julie Dufour, his sister Victoria Schreiber and her husband Scott, his grandmothers Shirley Jones and Carolie Martin, his grandfather Jack Cates. He will be deeply missed as well by his uncle and aunt, Jerry and Penni Jones, his uncle John Dufour, his aunts Melinda Martin and Melanie Martin and his cousins Morgan Jones and Emily Jones.
Christopher’s life will be celebrated at a Memorial service at Collierville United Methodist Church this Saturday, June 10th, 2017, Visitation at 10:00 a.m. with the Service following at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to three charities close to Christopher’s heart: https://lakeshorecamp.org/get-involved/donate/, https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/riobravosponsor/, or https://www.gofundme.com/chris-for-childrens
