Devane Douglas Gordon Jr., age 96, of Eads, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. He was born on August 3, 1928 to Devane and Audie Lee Gordon in Pickens, Mississippi. In additional to his parent, he is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Middleton Gordon, his sisters Catherine Biggs and Audie Lee Gordon and grandson, David Bryan Gordon.
Doug joined the Tennessee Air National Guard June 5, 1949, and was called to active duty with the Air Force April 1951. After being released from active duty, he started full time with the TANG in January 1953. He retired in 1986. He was also a sales agent for Lord and Burnham greenhouses and built many greenhouses all over the Mid-south area.
Doug enjoyed researching the family genealogy and was a volunteer with the Tennessee Genealogical Society for many years. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He loved classic cars and attended many car shows with his restored 1955 Mercury.
He leaves behind his son, Douglas Bryan Gordon (Maureen), his daughter Mary Carol Wildman (Dave). He also leaves his grandchildren, Ashley Wildman Williams (Gene), Lindsey Wildman Aune (Brad), Barry Gordon (Diana) and Nikki Gordon Moffitt (Keith) and great grandchildren, Walker and Finley Edge, Rhett and Cole Moffitt and Charlotte and Elizabeth Aune. He also leave his sister Anne Arant.
Doug was a member of First Baptist Church of Fisherville in Eads, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be made in Doug's memory to First Baptist Church of Fisherville.
