Mr. Don Jesse Kerley

Don’s career as a Master Plumber began while he was a young father, working days and attending school at night. After years of hard work and dedication he opened Eastern Plumbing Company and grew his business to become one of the premier plumbing companies in Shelby County. Even after retirement, Don enjoyed sharing his expertise, always ready to help family and friends.

Don was baptized as a youth in the Baptist church and enjoyed taking his young family to worship at the Church of Christ. His generous heart, willingness to help anyone in need, quick smile and fun-loving spirit endeared him to many. He never met a stranger and always had a story to tell.

One of Don’s greatest joys in life was his beloved Labrador, Rusty. The two were inseparable, embarking on daily “Rusty-runs” in Don’s green Chevy truck. With Rusty riding shotgun, they became fixtures around town, visiting breakfast buffets and brightening everyone’s day—from bank tellers to gas station cooks. Rusty’s mischievous charm and Don’s friendly banter were a welcome sight wherever they went, leaving smiles and fond memories in their wake.

Don leaves behind his wife of 24 years, Elaine; his three children, Brad and Bobbie Kerley, Steph and Jody Dwyer, Rob and Rhonda Kerley; and his treasured grandchildren, Joey and Madisen Dwyer, Joshua and Anna Kathyrn Dwyer, Jon Dwyer, Zach Kerley, Madison and Jeremy Smith along with their children, Laine and Callie. He also leaves behind his siblings, Mary Kerley Lawler (Bob) and Joe Kerley (Tanyia). Don was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Mary Kerley, and four of his siblings.

Don’s legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. He was a man who truly lived life to the fullest, embodying a spirit of generosity and joy that will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Don’s life will be held, Tuesday, December 3rd at Collierville Funeral Home, 3863 Bailey Station Road, Collierville, TN, visitation 10:00 – 11:00am with service to follow.
