Donna was born on January 22, 1947, to Carl and Nora Moody in Waynesville, North Carolina. After graduating from Waynesville High School in 1965, Donna left her mountain home to further her dance education while also studying nursing in Atlanta. There, she met her husband, Dale, with whom she moved to Memphis and shared 56 years of marriage and four children: Todd, Carlee, Ryan (Robyn), and Molly Jessup (Ryan), as well as three grandchildren: Jake and Sarah McFadden and Mac Jessup.
A family service will be held in Donna's hometown of Waynesville in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Eastern Band of Cherokees Unrestricted Fund in Donna's name.
